Saints aiming to beat QPR to signing of Spurs man – report

Southampton are aiming to beat QPR to the £7.5m signing of Tottenham defender Michael Dawson, according to the Daily Mirror.

Rangers tried to sign Dawson in August and manager Mark Hughes has indicated that he plans to make another attempt to capture the 28-year-old when the transfer window opens in January.

But it is claimed the Saints want Dawson to shore up their leaky defence and can match the wages on offer at Loftus Road.

Dawson has apparently been told he is not in Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas’ plans and will be allowed to move on.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail say Fulham are watching FC Cologne’s Sweden Under-21 captain Mikael Ishak.
