Reports: Cesar not Sunderland’s first choice, QPR set to sign Taylor

PSV Eindhoven’s Jeroen Zoet is Sunderland’s first-choice signing ahead of Julio Cesar, the Sunday People reports.

The Black Cats recently made an approach for Cesar – the first QPR have received, despite reports of much interest in the Brazil keeper since he was made available at the end of last season.

But it is suggested that Cesar is seen as a potential loan signing if Sunderland are unable to land Dutchman Zoet.

The People also claim that Newcastle have dismissed a £2m bid from QPR for Steven Taylor.

The Sunday Express suggest Rangers boss Harry Redknapp is set to sign the out-of-favour defender but the Magpies want around £5m.

Meanwhile, there is more speculation about the future of Stoke’s Peter Crouch as QPR prepare their latest attempt to bring him back to Loftus Road.

The Ealing man, who left Rangers in 2001, is again linked with Crystal Palace, this time by the Mail on Sunday.
