Liverpool v QPR player ratings

A defeat at Anfield left QPR on the brink of relegation back to the Championship. Here’s how we rated the players in Saturday’s 2-1 loss.

Rob Green: 8
Unlucky to be on the losing side. As well as saving a penalty he produced a number of impressive stops before Steven Gerrard’s late winner.

Nedum Onuoha: 5
A really poor performance from the defender, who was uncomfortable on the ball and vulnerable throughout. Lost the plot late on, giving away a penalty before another careless foul two minutes later saw him sent off.

Steven Caulker: 5
Substituted at half-time because of a hand injury, Caulker had not looked convincing. He also missed a decent chance to score.

Richard Dunne: 6
Had a solid game, especially in the second half when he coped well with the threat of Rickie Lambert.

Clint Hill: 7
Made a decent fist of playing at left-back, where he stuck to his task despite inevitably being caused problems by Raheem Sterling. Just as inevitably he looked much more comfortable after being switched to centre-back, where he was solid and composed.

Matty Phillips: 5
The winger has been in fantastic form but this was a performance to forget. His crossing was unusually poor and his delivery from corners even worse.

Joey Barton: 7
Another praiseworthy performance. Barton competed well in midfield and did everything he could to drive his team forward.

Sandro: 6
A mixed display from the Brazilian, who broke up attacks well at times but on occasions was guilty of rash challenges and being too slow to close down the dangerous Philippe Coutinho.

Karl Henry: 5
Totally out of his depth on the left-hand side, where he failed to offer adequate defensive cover and was cumbersome when trying to go forward.

Leroy Fer: 7
Scored Rangers’ equaliser and always looked their most dangerous attacking player. Took up some good positions and gave Liverpool problems. His recent lay-off with a knee injury was an untimely blow for the R’s.

Charlie Austin: 6
Starved of service and although he worked hard, he never looked likely to create an opening for himself.

Yun Suk-Young: 6
Not the best defensively, but at least gave Rangers some pace and enthusiasm going forward on the left flank after he came on for the second half.

Bobby Zamora: 6
Imposed himself physically after coming on and might have been a big threat to Liverpool had he been fit enough to start the game.
