Stoke boss Hughes linked with swoop for Rangers youngster

Former QPR manager Mark Hughes wants to sign Michael Petrasso for Stoke, the Daily Mail claim.

The 18-year-old Canadian winger, who is yet to play for the Rangers first team, impressed during a recent loan spell at Coventry and previously while at Oldham.

He was brought to QPR in 2012 by the club’s then Under-21 boss Marc Bircham when Hughes was at Loftus Road, and the Welshman is supposedly interested in taking Petrasso to the Britannia Stadium this summer.

The 22-year-old is under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2017 and Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has said he believes Oscar will be a key player for the Blues in the future.

Manchester City are prepared to spend £30m in order to beat Chelsea to the signing of Southampton star Luke Shaw, according to Goal.com.

Tottenham and Manchester United are also reported to be interested in the 18-year-old left-back, who recently made his England debut.

It is claimed that Chelsea and Spurs have indicated to third parties that they are willing to pay Southampton £25m.

Elsewhere, Rome-based newspaper Il Messaggero has reported that Roma are showing an interest in Fulham’s £12m January signing Kostas Mitroglou.
