Fulham confident of beating Stoke and West Ham to Dempsey deal – report

Fulham are confident of agreeing a deal to bring Clint Dempsey back to Craven Cottage on loan, the Daily Telegraph reports.

The former Whites star, 30, is expected to make a temporary return to the Premier League from Seattle Sounders.

Stoke, whose boss Mark Hughes managed Dempsey at Fulham, and West Ham are also said to be interested in Dempsey.

Meanwhile, Belgian side Anderlecht are reported to be keen to sign Fulham’s Bryan Ruiz on loan with a view to a permanent move, although wages could apparently be a problem.

The Sun say Costa Rican playmaker Ruiz, who had a three-year spell at Gent, is looking to return to Belgium so he can play first-team football ahead of next summer’s World Cup.

Ruiz is quoted as saying: “Playing at the World Cup can define your career and I want to have a good finish to this season.

“But things are difficult at Fulham now and I want above all to prepare well for next summer’s finals.

“If the chance comes for me to play in Belgium or Holland once more I will certainly consider it.

“I have happy memories of Belgium. I am still in contact with friends in the country.”
