Transfer gossip: Yet more Austin speculation – and Motta believes he’s joining QPR

A round-up of the latest transfer speculation involving QPR….

West Ham are set to spend £12m on Charlie Austin, it is claimed.

QPR have not received any approaches for the striker, who intends to see out the remaining few months of his contract before assessing his options in the summer.

And West Ham have made it clear on a number of occasions that they are not looking to sign the 26-year-old.

But the Brentwood Gazette claim the Hammers will make a move for him following another injury to Andy Carroll.

Austin has been out for a month with a hamstring problem and has started just one game since November.

Meanwhile, Italian defender Marco Motta seemingly believes he is set to complete a move to QPR.

The former Juventus right-back, 29, has been a free agent since leaving Watford at the end of last season following a short spell at Vicarage Road.

He was recently granted a trial at Rangers and featured in a friendly against Reading.

QPR are yet to make a decision on his future but Italian media reports suggest Motta believes the club want to sign him.

“A trial at QPR? It wasn’t exactly a trial,” Motta is quoted as saying.

“QPR wanted to judge my physical condition, because I’ve been out of action for a few months. I’m currently in England and I’m defining my contract. I haven’t signed.

“Right now, what’s important for me is the project on the pitch and that’s why I decided to wait a bit of time. I’m enthusiastically ready for this new adventure.”
