QPR linked with Man City man and Toronto chief speaks about Defoe

Toronto FC president Tim Leiweke has said that no deal is in place for Jermain Defoe to leave the Canadian club.

QPR tried to bring in the former England striker before the transfer window closed and expect to sign him when it reopens in January.

Speaking at the Leaders in Football conference in London, Leiweke said: “He is fully committed to Toronto for the final four games of the season.

“We will talk in December but there is currently no deal in place for him to leave.”

Talksport say Newcastle are also keen on Defoe. who played under R’s boss Harry Redknapp at Tottenham and Portsmouth.

Meanwhile, Scott Sinclair has been linked with a loan move to QPR from Manchester City.

And Spain midfielder Koke has insisted he will not be leaving Atletico Madrid, which will apparently disappoint Chelsea.

The Express claim the Blues, Manchester United and Liverpool are all interested in signing the 22-year-old.

Koke is quoted as saying: “The club is growing, we are growing as players – why I would go at the best time of Atletico Madrid?”
