Newcastle linked with possible move for Chelsea youngster Bamford

A round-up of today’s transfer speculation involving Chelsea….

Newcastle are the latest club to be linked with a move for Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford.

The 21-year-old has scored 19 goals this season while on loan at Middlesbrough and it is suggested he may well be farmed out to a Premier League club next term.

The Chronicle in Newcastle claims Bamford is one of three English strikers being considered to replace Papiss Cisse.

Didier Drogba’s future at Stamford Bridge remains up in the air, the Independent suggests.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has said the veteran striker will need to decide whether he wants to play on beyond this season, but that the final word on a new contract will rest with club owner Roman Abramovich.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah has apparently said he will wait until the end of the season before settling his future.

The Chelsea winger is currently on loan at Fiorentina, who have the option of extending the deal into next season or buying him for an initial £9.5m, potentially rising to £18m with add-ons. Roma and Juventus are also supposedly interested.

The Evening Standard quotes Salah as saying: “I still have one month to make a decision about my future. I’m enjoying being here and my objective is to reach the Europa League final.”

Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, regularly linked with a move to Chelsea, is apparently close to a move to Paris St-Germain.

Reports in Italy, picked up by the Daily Express, suggest Pogba has agreed in principle a deal worth £165,000 per week.
