Coquelin tipped to stay and Carvalho-Chelsea link is played down

Francis Coquelin is set to stay at Arsenal despite interest from QPR, according to French newspaper Lefigaro.

The former France Under-21 midfielder is one of several players Rangers have considered as a possible loan signing in recent weeks, although he is not among their main targets.

Meanwhile, reports in Italy say Napoli have accepted QPR’s offer for Chile forward Eduardo Vargas, who is expected to move to Loftus Road on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent move.

The defensive midfielder, 22, has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge ahead of the transfer deadline.

And there continues to be speculation over the future of Petr Cech after he was left out for Chelsea’s Premier League opener at Burnley.

It is being widely reported that Paris St-Germain are preparing a bid for the 32-year-old goalkeeper.
