Transfer gossip: Conte tipped to ditch trio, Chelsea again linked with Davies

A round-up of the latest Chelsea transfer speculation as Ben Davies of Tottenham is again linked with the Blues…

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is set to phase out Gary Cahill and Branislav Ivanovic following the 3-0 defeat at Arsenal, the Daily Mail say.

The newspaper adds that David Luiz, who only recently returned from Paris St-Germain, could also be ousted as a first-choice defender because Conte wants to sign two centre-backs.

It is also claimed that Conte wants to sign a full-back in a bid to strengthen his defence during the January transfer window.

Several players have been touted as long-term replacements for Blues captain John Terry – who is currently out injured – in recent months.

The Mail again suggest that Middlesbrough’s Ben Gibson and Michael Keane of Burnley are on Conte’s radar.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have again been linked with Tottenham left-back Ben Davies, this time by ESPN.

The Sun on Sunday recently claimed that Conte is keen on the Wales international, partly because Davies can also play on the left of a back three.

And ESPN say they have been told by sources close to Chelsea that the club are considering making a move for Davies, 23, when the transfer window reopens in January.
