Speculation over Defoe and Crouch as QPR discuss possible signings

A meeting between QPR manager Harry Redknapp and chairman Tony Fernandes has prompted more speculation about possible moves for Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch.

Both strikers have played under Redknapp previously and, having been unable to agree Defoe’s release from FC Toronto during the previous transfer window, Rangers have been expecting to sign the 32-year-old in January.

And QPR have unsuccessfully tried several times in recent years to bring back Crouch, who played for the club in the 2000-01 season, and Stoke manager Mark Hughes has indicated that he wants him to stay at the Britannia Stadium.

After Redknapp flew to Malaysia to meet Fernandes, the Daily Mirror say the pair will discuss deals for Defoe and Crouch.

It is claimed that Fernandes needs to be persuaded to go ahead with the signing of Defoe, who worked with Redknapp at Portsmouth and Tottenham.

The Daily Mail also suggest Defoe and Crouch are Redknapp’s top targets and that the meeting is a sign that the 67-year-old has Fernandes’ support despite QPR’s difficulties this season.
