Sherwood keen to sign Reid if he becomes QPR boss, report claims

Tim Sherwood is keen to sign Winston Reid if he takes over as QPR boss, the Daily Star Sunday say.

Everton, Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal are also supposedly interested in the 26-year-old centre-back, whose current contract expires at the end of the season.

Speculation about Reid’s future comes as his representatives are negotiating with West Ham over a new deal, while Sherwood is the favourite to replace under-pressure manager Harry Redknapp at Rangers.

Meanwhile, the Mail on Sunday claim QPR stand to make £15m if Liverpool sell Raheem Sterling because they have a 25% sell-on clause as part of the deal that saw him sign for the Reds in 2010.

There have been reports that Real Madrid are interested in signing the England international for £60m.

There is also more speculation about Redknapp’s future. The Sunday Telegraph reports that there is a reluctance to sack him and his job is safe for now.

In his column in The Sun on Sunday, Redknapp insists his relationship with chairman Tony Fernandes remains strong.

“I had a meeting with the chairman Tony Fernandes on Friday,” he explained.

“It was a quick cup of coffee and didn’t last longer than about 20 minutes. And the one subject that didn’t arise was my future.

“We just chatted about this and that, our plans and hopes for what we hope can ultimately be a successful season for the club.

“I am fed up speaking about the matter and just want to get on with my job. Tony has been brilliant for me and we have a great relationship.”
