QPR manager speculation: Birmingham’s Rowett linked with job

A round-up of the latest speculation over who might take over at QPR…

The Times, which reports that Chris Powell has been interviewed by Rangers, say Birmingham manager Gary Rowett is also in the running along with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

Former Chelsea striker Hasselbaink, currently manager of Burton Albion, still has a family home in London and has been widely touted as the frontrunner for the job at Loftus Road despite no approach being made for him.

Ex-Charlton boss Powell, meanwhile, was recently sacked by Huddersfield and is keen to return to management.

Interim head coach Neil Warnock will be in charge for QPR’s game at home to Leeds United on Saturday. The club expect to make an appointment next week.

Several other managers have been linked with the role since Chris Ramsey was sacked.

They include Nigel Pearson, who has not been considered so far, former Fulham boss Martin Jol and ex-Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers.
