QPR’s McCarthy reported to be on Everton’s list after injury to Howard

QPR’s second-choice goalkeeper Alex McCarthy is on Everton’s list of possible replacement for the injured Tim Howard, according to the Daily Mail.

It comes after Everton boss Roberto Martinez confirmed he is looking to make a signing after Howard was ruled out for at least a month with a calf problem.

Martinez said: “There are a couple of options I feel could fit really well but I wouldn’t just bring in anyone who stops the development of a youngster.

“I would rather make it a long-term signing. I don’t think short-term would be a solution for us now.”

McCarthy, 25, is said to be under consideration along with Cardiff’s David Marshall, Norwich’s John Ruddy and Ali Al Habsi of Wigan.

Meanwhile, Yann M’Vila has rejected a possible move to QPR, again according to the Mail.

Rangers wanted the French midfielder two years ago but were unhappy with his demands and he subsequently joined Rubin Kazan.

But it is claimed that they have been looking to sign M’Vila and offload Adel Taarabt to Inter Milan.

M’Vila is currently on loan at Inter, where he has failed to make an impact.
