QPR linked with keeper and Ferdinand tipped to get new deal

The Sunday People say QPR are considering a January bid for Southend United goalkeeper Dan Bentley.

It is claimed they are looking for a back-up option for Rob Green so have made an enquiry about the 21-year-old.

Rangers recently signed Alex McCarthy from Reading as a possible alternative to Green and also have experienced keeper Brian Murphy.

QPR plan to offer Rio Ferdinand a new contract and see him as a potential successor to manager Harry Redknapp at Loftus Road, according to the Sunday Mirror.

Ferdinand, 35, joined Rangers on a one-year deal in the summer despite chairman Tony Fernandes having reservations.

But Fernandes has been impressed by the ex-England defender and it is claimed that the club’s board are already looking to keep him beyond the end of the season.

The Sun on Sunday have an interview with Ferdinand in which he accuses John Terry of “stupidity” over the incident involving the former Manchester United star’s brother in October 2011.

Chelsea skipper Terry was cleared in court of racially abusing Anton Ferdinand, then a QPR player, but was later punished by the FA.

Meanwhile, the People claim Chelsea are interested in Valencia’s Paco Alcacer.

The 21-year-old striker reportedly has a £15m release clause and has stalled over signing a new deal, which has apparently alerted both the Blues and Arsenal.

And Fulham want to sign striker Grant Holt on loan from Wigan, again according to the People.
