Reports: Swans not after McCarthy and WBA hopeful of Phillips deal

A round-up of the latest transfer speculation involving QPR and Chelsea…

Swansea City are not planning to make a move for Alex McCarthy, the South Wales Evening Post reports.

City are one of a number of clubs recently linked with the QPR goalkeeper, who has been the understudy to Rob Green at Loftus Road.

The Post say Swansea have been monitoring McCarthy for some time but are not looking to sign him.

Midlands newspaper the Express & Star say West Brom are hopeful of eventually agreeing a deal to sign Matty Phillips.

West London Sport revealed on Monday that QPR had rejected a bid from Albion for the winger.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have been linked with a move for Barcelona winger Munir El Haddadi.

The 19-year-old broke into the Barca first team last season while Luis Suarez served his worldwide ban, and also won his first Spain cap.

Spanish newspaper Marca believe Arsenal have made an approach to take the teenager on loan, with the Blues also interested, but add that Ajax’s bid for him was rejected.

Reports in Italy suggest that Roma have made an offer of 18 million euros (£12.8m) for Augsburg left-back Baba Rahman – three million euros more than a bid reportedly lodged by Chelsea.

Sky Sport Italia claim the Serie A side have also offered a larger salary than the Premier League champions.

Juan Cuadrado will be staying at Chelsea despite interest from other clubs, the Express suggests.

It quotes the player’s representative Alessandro Lucci as saying “Cuadrado is a Chelsea player, strongly backed by Mourinho who believes in him. Juan is fine in London and is very likely to remain at Chelsea.

“He has interest from other teams but I repeat, Juan is a Chelsea player.”

Reports in the Netherlands suggest Chelsea’s most recent Brazilian acquisition, 19-year-old Nathan, will be sent out on loan to Vitesse Arnhem, joining Lewis Baker.

And after Faouzi Ghoulam told the media in his native Algeria that he will not be leaving Napoli, the Express claim Chelsea were interested and have missed out on the left-back.
