Chelsea among top clubs linked with Leeds United prospect

Chelsea have joined Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool in a race to sign Leeds United teenager Lewis Cook, the Daily Star claims.

The 18-year-old midfielder only broke into the Leeds first team this season but has made 37 appearances in the Championship and has apparently caught the eye of Premier League sides.

The Star believes Leeds value Cook at £12m and that he is earning £4,000 per week on his current deal at Elland Road.

The Daily Telegraph suggests Chelsea will try to fight off Manchester United and Arsenal to sign German World Cup winner Mats Hummels.

The Borussia Dortmund centre-back would apparently cost £37m but the Telegraph says Blues boss Jose Mourinho would just as happily turn to Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane.

Picking up on reports in Turkey, the Daily Express is linking Lokomotiv Moscow striker Oumar Niasse with a potential move to Stamford Bridge.

It believes Tottenham and Galatasaray are also interested in the Senegal international, who is said to be available for £4.4m.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have apparently been told to forget about a summer bid for Petr Cech.

The Independent claims Chelsea have said the goalkeeper is not for sale, despite constant rumours linking him with a move.

The Daily Telegraph believes the Blues could end up £18m better off from any future sale of Mohamed Salah to Fiorentina.

It claims the widely-quoted fee of £9.5m is well short of the figure Chelsea expect to receive if the Serie A club decide to turn the Egyptian winger’s loan into a permanent move.

And reports in the Netherlands suggest Vitesse Arnhem, who already have three Blues players on their books, are interested in a loan deal next season for Nathan Ake.

The 20-year-old, currently at Reading, would follow in the footsteps of Josh McEachran, Wallace and Bernard Traore, who are all with the Dutch club.
