Chelsea linked with Pogba, Gaitan and West Ham star Cresswell

Chelsea are apparently leading Manchester United in races to sign both Benfica winger Nico Gaitan and Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.

The Daily Express claims Blues boss Jose Mourinho has had Gaitan watched and may be prepared to trigger a £30m release clause.

Reports in Portugal suggest United, Paris St-Germain, Monaco, Valencia and Zenit St. Petersburg are all interested but that Gaitan would prefer a move to Stamford Bridge to enhance his chances of winning the Champions League.

And Graham Hunter, a journalist covering Spanish football, has told TalkSport he understands Pogba would favour signing for Chelsea or Barcelona rather than returning to United.

Meanwhile, West Ham will resist any attempts from Chelsea to sign left-back Aaron Cresswell, the Evening Standard say.

The Blues and Manchester City have both been linked with a move for the 25-year-old, who still has four years left on his contract with the Hammers.

Reports in Brazil, picked up by both Metro and the Daily Star, claim 19-year-old playmaker Nathan was due in London on Tuesday to undergo a medical with Chelsea.

The Blues are supposedly close to completing a £4.7m deal for the Atletico Paranaense youngster, who has won 14 caps for Brazil’s Under-20s.

Aston Villa, meanwhile, are being linked with a move for Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford.

The Daily Star claims Villa sent a scout to watch Bamford, 21, in action for his loan club Middlesbrough on Saturday.

His 16 goals have earned him a nomination for the Football League’s young player of the year award and the Star suggests Villa may look to take him on loan next season.

Reports in France, picked up by the Standard, claim Chelsea’s Gael Kakuta is a target for Monaco.

The 23-year-old is currently on his sixth loan spell away from Stamford Bridge, playing for Rayo Vallecano in Spain.
