Defoe touted for QPR loan move

Jermain Defoe has ‘opened the door’ to a loan move to QPR, the Sunday People say.

Rangers discussed bringing in the former England striker from Toronto FC last month and expect to sign him in January, when he is likely to be allowed to leave.

But it is claimed that a loan move is on the cards after Defoe, who played under R’s boss Harry Redknapp at Tottenham and Portsmouth, apparently told his current club he wants to go.

Meanwhile, Les Ferdinand has been tipped to take over as QPR’s academy boss following the resignation of Richard Allen.

West London Sport revealed this week that Allen is leaving Rangers, who have been looking to give Loftus Road legend Ferdinand a role at the club for some time.

The Mail on Sunday say Allen’s departure could pave the way for Ferdinand to return, as do the Daily Star Sunday, who say he is considering taking the role.
