Blues linked with Roma forward and QPR tipped to sign McCarthy

QPR are closing in on a deal to sign Reading goalkeeper Alex McCarthy for £6m, the Daily Mirror say.

It is claimed that Arsenal were interested in the 24-year-old and were put off by the asking price, but Rangers are keen to take him to Loftus Road.

Meanwhile, the Daily Star pick up on reports in the Italian press that Chelsea are interested in Mattia Destro.

The Roma forward’s agent Claudio Vigorelli has claimed that Blues boss Jose Mourinho is an admirer of Destro, 23, and that AC Milan also want him.

Vigorelli is quoted as saying: “MIlan or Chelsea? The market is unpredictable. These are two interested clubs.

“Jose Mourinho admires him, while Milan could make some important steps forward very soon.”

And there is speculation about Felix Magath’s future as Fulham manager after his team were beaten 5-1 at Derby – their fourth defeat from four games this season.

The Daily Telegraph say Magath, whose team face Brentford in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday, has one more game to save his job.
