Chelsea reported to be keeping tabs on Uruguayan prospect

Chelsea are reported to be monitoring 16-year-old Uruguayan midfielder Fede Valverde, who scored seven goals at last month’s South American Under-17 Championship.

The Daily Mirror claims Arsenal are also interested and are preparing a £2m bid for the Penarol academy star.

Chelsea have lodged a bid for FC Tokyo striker Yoshinori Muto, reports in Japan are suggesting.

The 22-year-old scored 13 times in 33 J-League games last year and already has three in the first four games of the current campaign.

And Sky Sports believes the Blues’ offer for the Japan international to be around £4m.

The Daily Telegraph, quoting reports in Italy, suggests Dynamo Kyiv striker Andriy Yarmolenko could move to Chelsea in the summer.

The Ukraine international, who has scored 15 goals in 30 games this season, is also said to be considering interest from Spanish side Valencia.

West London-raised Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling has been urged to turn down reported interest from Chelsea to stay at Anfield.

Former Reds player Jason McAteer, speaking to TalkSport, said Sterling would not get into the team at Stamford Bridge if he opted to move.

Elsewhere in Europe, the French media have picked up on reports in the UK linking Chelsea with a move for Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.

The 25-year-old is said to have been a long-time target for Arsenal but it is claimed that Jose Mourinho may be ready to spend £22m to bring the Frenchman to the Bridge.

There is also further speculation over the future of Petr Cech, with the Italian media suggesting Inter Milan are close to signing the Chelsea keeper on a two-year deal.
