Brentford v Wednesday player ratings

Brentford were desperately unlucky to lose against Sheffield Wednesday at Griffin Park. Here’s how we rated the Bees players in their 2-1 defeat.

David Button: 6
Produced a couple of decent saves and commanded his area well.

Josh Clarke: 8
A cracking display from the young right-back. He looked uncertain early on, but got better and better as the game progressed, winning a host of challenges and always looking to get forward when possible.

James Tarkowski: 5
Perhaps unlucky to be sent off after fouling Atdhe Nuhiu. He was being given major problems by the Wednesday target man though.

Harlee Dean: 7
Dug in and produced a commendable performance despite being under constant pressure. Nuhiu was always a threat, crosses were coming in from both sides, and the Bees played much of the game with 10 men. In those circumstances, Dean deserves much praise for his determined display.

Jake Bidwell: 7
Defended resolutely and got forward well. Went close to scoring with a volley late in the first half.

Toumani Diagouraga: 7
Recently criticised by Marinus Dijkhuizen, this was more like it from Diagouraga, whose energy and determination were crucial as Brentford battled on with 10 men.

Alan McCormack: 7
Another player whose tireless midfield display meant Brentford were more than a match for a robust Wednesday side, even when a man short.

Konstantin Kerschbaumer: 5
Wasn’t having a good game before being substituted as part of a reshuffle after Tarkowski’s first-half dismissal.

Alan Judge: 8
Brilliant stuff from Judge, who set up a couple of chances for the Bees before equalising with a glorious strike. He picked up space at will and was creative throughout.

Lasse Vibe: 6
Had a frustrating afternoon, not least when he missed a great chance to make it 2-1 by blasting over shortly before Wednesday’s winner.

Marco Djuricin: 6
Fluffed his lines when a chance came his way but he worked hard up front.

Jack O’Connell: 5
His slip proved decisive as it led to Wednesday’s late winner. That was a shame for the youngster as he generally did well after coming on and has obvious potential.

Sergi Canos: 7
Again looked impressive after coming off the bench. Looks a hugely exciting player.
