Villa have little chance and QPR will have their work cut out

QPR travel to St Mary’s to face Southampton on Saturday looking for their first point and goal on their travels this season, having lost both previous away games 4-0.charlie-mcCann_Aff

They meet a team currently going from strength to strength – Ronald Koeman has quietly built an excellent squad with the money from the transfers of Lallana, Shaw, Lambert, Lovren and Chambers.

The grass is always greener but only Chambers has made any real impact to date at their new clubs, although I’m sure their bank managers are delighted with their moves.

Not only have the R’s failed to score on the road (or indeed in their last five Premier League away games), but Southampton have conceded the fewest number of goals in the division (three).

Southampton are 9/20 to win on Saturday, with Rangers 8/1 and the draw 17/5.

The most popular bet we have taken to date on the game at BetVictor is for the Saints to win to nil at 13/10.

Harry Redknapp’s men are 5/4 to be relegated at the end of the campaign and 4/7 to stay up.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are only 9/4 to win the Capital One Cup, having been handed an away tie at Shrewsbury in the fourth round of the competition following their narrow but comprehensive win over Bolton on Wednesday evening.

Diego Costa (11) has had more shots on target than the whole Aston Villa team (eight) so far this season, although Villa have yet to concede a goal on their travels so far this term.

That said, the Blues have scored 27 goals in their last seven home games against the Midlands outfit and it is very hard to see past a home win on Saturday.

The title favourites are 1/5 to win, with Villa 16/1 and the draw 11/2.

Chelsea are 2/7 to win any major trophy this season, 5/2 not to win a trophy and only 200/1 to win the lot; Premier League, FA Cup, Capital One Cup and Champions League.

Costa is even-money to be the division’s leading goalscorer but that is not a price I would be rushing to take with potential discipline and injury concerns going forward.

Be lucky.
