Report claims Blues were beaten to the signing of Brooklyn Beckham

Arsenal have beaten off competition from Chelsea to sign Brooklyn Beckham, it is claimed.

The Daily Star Sunday say Manchester United were also interested in the 15-year-old, whose father David made his name at Old Trafford.

The youngster is reported to have signed a contract after a spell playing for one of the Gunners’ academy teams.

A source is quoted as saying: “Brooklyn is talented and he has stood out in all of the training sessions and games he has played.

“He has had other teams sniffing around and it was always going to be a case of when, not if, he was signed up by a big-name club.

“Arsenal realise he can be a huge talent. They have seen that potential and protected their asset.

“The club has signed him, fending off interest from Manchester United and Chelsea in the meantime. Next summer we may see him sign a big-money deal with Arsenal.”

Meanwhile, the Sunday People say Chris David could leave Fulham when the transfer window reopens  in January.

The 21-year-old Dutchman has started only three league games since moving to Craven Cottage earlier this year and the club are tipped to offload him.
