Optimistic Fernandes accuses some QPR fans of ‘giving up’

Tony Fernandes took to Twitter after QPR’s 2-1 defeat at Southampton and insisted there were “many positives” despite the result.

Struggling Rangers, without injured midfielders Joey Barton and Jordon Mutch, were beaten again despite a superb goal from Charlie Austin and lost Sandro to a head injury after only eight minutes.

But chairman Fernandes claimed that was room for optimism ahead of games against West Ham and Liverpool.

He tweeted: “Many positives today. Southampton in form. Team fought despite so many injuries and one after 10 minutes. Nico and fer Henry great. Great goal.

“Also want to give Bobby and armand a shout. Thought Armand was outstanding in defense today.”

Many fans are alarmed following a start to the season in which Rangers have lost all of their away matches, with manager Harry Redknapp coming in for some criticism.

“I find it weird how fans give up so quickly. We have had 3 main midfielders missing. I’m looking forward to Upton Park and then Liverpool,” Fernandes wrote.
