Brentford v Forest player ratings

Brentford survived the sending-off of Harlee Dean to record a 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday. Here’s how we rated the players at Griffin Park.

David Button: 8
Made several good stops both before and after half-time, particularly frustrating Forest striker Nelson Oliveira. Was left helpless for Henri Lansbury’s equaliser.

Nico Yennaris: 7
Worked hard at right-back. Troubled by Ryan Mendes in the first half but grew as the game went on and supported well in attack.

Harlee Dean: 7
Was enjoying a fine game until the sending-off, making some excellent interventions and setting up the first goal. While he will feel hard done by with the red card, raising an arm – even to brush off Jonny Williams – was unwise.

James Tarkowski: 7
Made a couple of good blocks and was resolute after his defensive partner was sent off. Almost grabbed the headlines with an injury-time header that hit the post.

Jake Bidwell: 6
Out of sorts on and off the ball in the first half but the skipper tightened up in the second.

Alan McCormack: 6
Careless in possession in the first 45 but was another to improve after the interval, breaking up play and getting forward players involved.

Toumani Diagouraga: 7
Marked his 200th league appearance for Brentford with a solid performance. The highlight was a superb piece of skill to turn defence into attack and he was also involved in the move that led to the winner.

Ryan Woods: 7
Lively at times and came into his own on the break in the latter stages of the game. It was his saved shot that was turned in by Hofmann for the winner.

Alan Judge: 7
The brightest performer in a rather flat first half and had several shots that failed to come off. His cross helped create the first goal but he was sacrificed for extra defensive cover after Dean’s 70th-minute red card.

John Swift: 6
Struggled to make a real impact in his hour on the pitch, although he did register the Bees’ first shot on target. Gave the ball away too often.

Lasse Vibe: 6
Like Swift, was replaced after a fairly ineffective 60 minutes as he failed to really test a well-drilled Forest backline.

Sergi Canos: 8
The Liverpool loanee looked very bright when he came on, opening the scoring after just a few minutes on the pitch and later bringing a fine save from Dorus de Vries.

Phillip Hofmann: 7
Deserved to get the winner, even if it was a bit scrappy, as he worked hard when he came on.
