QPR chairman Tony Fernandes took to Twitter after the derby defeat at Chelsea and said he was proud of Rangers’ players and fans.

Charlie Austin’s equaliser cancelled out Oscar’s opener at Stamford Bridge but Chelsea secured a 2-1 victory with Eden Hazard’s disputed penalty.

“I think every QPR fan should be proud of the team . felt super proud of our boys and the fans were amazing.”

QPR midfielder Leroy Fer wrote: “Unlucky today, but strong as a team! Let’s stick together!”

And Austin, whose goal was his fifth of the season, tweeted: “Disappointing not to come away from the game with a point great team performance and fans were class.”

Rangers midfielder Joey Barton, currently unavailable because of a hamstring problem, was not at the game but suggested another goal for Austin could mean the striker is closing in on an England call-up.

Barton commented: “From what I read on @QPRFC news feed. Seems QPR played well. Delighted for @chazaustin9 How long before England cap?”
