Mourinho admits away form is a concern ahead of West Ham game

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho admits his team need to improve their away form – starting in the derby at West Ham on Saturday.

The Blues, currently fourth in the table, have won only one of their five away games in the Premier League so far this season.

And Mourinho revealed in the wake of the recent defeat at Newcastle that he was worried about some of their early results.

A victory at Upton Park against Sam Allardyce’s side would be a step in the right direction for a team that has sometimes struggled away from Stamford Bridge since Mourinho’s return.

He said: “We have to do better. We’ve had very difficult matches away. I think our fixtures up to now have not been the easiest ones.

“We’ve played already against two title contenders [Manchester United and Tottenham] and played Everton and Newcastle – those are always difficult stadiums to go to.

“We have had difficult matches, but of course we have to do better and we need to get more points in the next five away matches than we did in the first five.”

Mourinho will be without the injured Fernando Torres against the Hammers but Ashley Cole has been passed fit despite aggravating a rib injury while playing for England against Germany this week.
