Terry signs new one-year Chelsea contract

Chelsea captain John Terry has signed a new one-year contract.

The former England defender, 34, has always insisted he wanted to stay at Stamford Bridge beyond the end of this season, when his previous deal was due to expire.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho, meanwhile, made it clear that Terry would re-sign before the campaign finished.

Terry has been with Chelsea his entire career, having made his first-team debut in 1998 and made 450 league appearances for the club.

He told Chelsea’s website he was “delighted” to put pen to paper.

“After adding another major trophy to my collection this month I hope myself, the players and manager can continue to bring success to our club,” Terry added.

“Playing for this great club makes me so proud. And as always I would like to thank the fans who have continually supported me.”
