Terry signs new Chelsea contract

John Terry has signed a new one-year deal.

The Chelsea captain, 33, always indicated that he wanted remain at Stamford Bridge when his contract expired at the end of the season, while manager Jose Mourinho was keen to keep him.

And the club have ended speculation about his future by ensuring that Terry will stay for at least another 12 months.

Terry made his Chelsea debut in 1998 and has made 621 appearances for the club, winning a host of honours, including three Premier League titles.

His fellow Blues stalwarts Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole are also out of contract this summer.

“I’m delighted to have signed an extension to my contract with Chelsea taking me into my 20th year with the club,” said Terry.

“I’d like to thank the fans and club for their continued support, and the manager who was instrumental for me the last season.”
