Terry appeal would be ‘a waste of time’ – Mourinho

Jose Mourinho has suggested John Terry’s red card against West Brom ought to be rescinded but that an appeal by Chelsea would be “a waste of time”.

Skipper Terry was sent off in the second half of his team’s 3-2 win at The Hawthorns for a foul on Salomon Rondon.

Asked if Chelsea would appeal against the decision, Mourinho said: “Normally it is a waste of time for us. I think we should, but normally it’s a waste of time.”

On a brighter note for the Blues boss, his side picked up their first win of the season and Pedro scored on his debut.

The Spain international, signed from Barcelona this week, put his new team ahead and was involved in the build-up to their second goal.

Mourinho said: “He’s a very good player. It was a very good performance.

“There is always a question mark because of how many top players come to England and don’t perform immediately. so it’s very nice for him to come and straightaway perform the way he did.

‘I expected him to perform like that because he had a good pre-season and he played three competitive matches [for Barcelona].

“He came with minutes and with intensity, so it was not a question of intensity and condition, it was a question of understanding.

“We worked tactically every day since he arrived for him to try to understand the team and for the team to try to understand what he wants and needs.”
