Sturridge could return against Chelsea

Liverpool’s ex-Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge could return from injury to face his former club in Tuesday’s Capital One Cup semi-final second leg at Stamford Bridge.

Sturridge has not played for the Reds since August, having suffered a thigh injury while on international duty with England and subsequently aggravated the problem.

But he is back in training and boss Brendan Rodgers could include him in the squad for the trip to west London.

“We’ll see how he is. He trained very, very well and it was as comfortable as he’s looked,” Rodgers said.

“He’s been out for a long time and we won’t risk it. We need to make sure he’s ready.”

Sturridge made 63 league appearances for Chelsea, scoring 13 goals for the club before moving to Anfield in January 2013.
