Chelsea face Antonio Rudiger’s former club Roma in the Champions League this evening and statistics suggest the German defender has improved significantly since his summer move.

Fantasy football game Oulala.com have used stats from Opta to compare Rudiger’s form at Chelsea compared to last season with Roma.

He made 72 appearance in Serie A before joining Chelsea in July and has since played eight times in the Premier League.

Data suggests he has improved in six out of seven main criteria.

Rudiger is averaging more passes per game (58) for Chelsea than he managed for Roma (51) and he is also completing a higher percentage of those (89% to 83%).

Defensively, Rudiger has also seen an upturn.

On a per-game basis, he has registered more interceptions (1.4 to 1), more blocks (0.8 to 0.3), more clearances (4.8 to 3) and is winning more headers (2.5 to 1.7) for Chelsea than he did at Roma in his final season there.
