Jose Mourinho returns to Stamford Bridge on Sunday but statistics appear to show his Manchester United team are not on course to win the Premier League title.

United began the weekend in seventh, five points behind front-runners Manchester City and Arsenal, and two behind Chelsea.

Figures produced by Opta, for the fantasy football game Oulala.com, show United are well down on the 10 key indicators compared to Mourinho’s first season of his second spell in charge at Chelsea.

The analysis covers creativity, defending, attacking, passing and possession in an attempt to reveal how Mourinho’s start to his United reign compares to the Blues’ first eight games of the 2013-14 campaign.

And, given Chelsea only went on to finish third that season, it shows that the self-proclaimed Special One has work to do at Old Trafford.
