Rivals know Chelsea deserve title – Jose

Manager Jose Mourinho says even their fiercest critics know Chelsea fully merited their Premier League success.

The Blues wrapped up a third title in two spells under Mourinho by beating Crystal Palace 1-0 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

But some – notably Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger – have questioned the tactics in the closing stages of the season when some fine defensive displays have earned vital results.

Mourinho said: “I think everybody knows we deserve it. Some don’t say it, but they know.

“When you work so hard and you are champions you feel you got what you deserved.

“It is a special feeling, I am not the smartest guy to choose countries and clubs. I choose the most difficult league in Europe.

“I choose the club where I was happy before and in my country we say a lot, ‘don’t go back because you risk what you did before’.

“Today was not a game to enjoy. Today was a game to finish the job.

“But I am so so happy because I won another title in my second spell.”

Mourinho also praised Palace for their efforts despite having little to play for.

“Palace were fantastic because they play against us like this was a crucial match for them,” he added. “They gave us a difficult match.”
