Norwich should have been awarded penalty – boss

Norwich manager Alex Neil insisted his team should have been awarded a first-half penalty in their 1-0 defeat against Chelsea.

Diego Costa scored a second-half winner at Stamford Bridge after the Canaries had appealed in vain for a spot-kick after Robbie Brady went down under a challenge from Willian.

“It was a key moment for both teams. It’s disappointing,” said Neil.

“It’s happened quite a lot this season. We’ve not really been getting decisions our way and I thought today we should have had a penalty.

“It gets extremely frustrating. Those decisions mean a great deal to us because we might not have five or six opportunities to score.

“Chelsea had the majority of the ball but we were set up to frustrate them and then attack them on the counter, which I felt we did in the first half.”
