‘No chance’ of Luiz leaving – Mourinho

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has again insisted that there is no prospect of David Luiz leaving the club.

There has been speculation about Luiz’s future since Mourinho returned to Stamford Bridge this summer and Barcelona are interested in signing the Brazil defender.

But the manager remains adamant that Luiz, 26, is part of his plans and will be staying put.

“The club is in a perfect condition to say that we don’t want to sell this player or don’t need to sell that player,” said Mourinho.

“David is one of the players that the club made a huge investment in. He’s not [been] here for seven, eight or nine years, he’s [been] here for a couple of years.

“He’s a player who is young and who signed a new contract last year. He was very happy to do it. We want to keep him.

“We understand that a big club like Barcelona wants the best, but we are being very honest by saying there is no chance David is leaving.”
