Mourinho targets ‘dream’ of 2025 title

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says he hopes to stay on as boss until 2025 and be able to celebrate a “dream” title 20 years after his first.

The Blues were presented with their fourth Premier League trophy under the Portuguese – 10 years after his first – following the final-day victory over Sunderland.

“To be champions in 2004/05 and 2014/15 is an amazing feeling because I belong to both,” Mourinho said.

“That team of 2004 is over. In the club only John Terry and Petr Cech [are still here] as Didier Drogba finished today. I belong to two generations.

“I know to be back for the end of my team was hard. To see Ashley Cole leave, Frank Lampard leave, Michael Essien leave and Didier Drogba leave is very hard for me.

“But my job is Chelsea future and Chelsea future is this team we are working with the last two years and we will carry on with it.

“It would be a dream to be here in 2025 and be here with the champions of 2005, 2015 and 2025. It would be fantastic.”

But Mourinho warned that his current side must win titles consistently to be compared to his previous title-wining teams.

“This team is just in the beginning,” he said.

“This team has won one Capital Cup and one Premier League. They have to win more to be better than the others.”
