Mourinho confirms Costa will start in Paris

Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Diego Costa will start for Chelsea in their Champions League game against Paris St-Germain.

The Blues striker is available for the round-of-16 first leg after missing the last three domestic matches through suspension.

But boss Mourinho has suggested that Costa may not be at his sharpest because of his recent inactivity.

“Yes, I will start him. But I don’t think it’s good for a player to be three weeks, or three matches, without starting a game, so I don’t think he’s in the best condition,” Mourinho said.

“But at the same time, [Loic] Remy and [Didier] Drogba have played in the last three matches. Obviously it is important for them to have minutes and confidence. I know that I have them both ready too.”

John Mikel Obi has a knee problem and did not travel to France with the squad.
