Mourinho bides time on Bamford deal

Jose Mourinho says he will not discuss the possibility of a new contract for Patrick Bamford until his loan spell with Middlesbrough comes to an end.

The England Under-21 striker been a key figure in helping Boro reach the Championship play-off semi-finals, where they lead Brentford 2-1 prior to Friday’s second leg.

Bamford has scored 17 goals this season but only has 12 months to run on his Chelsea contract and has been linked with a move to numerous Premier League sides, including Everton, Aston Villa and Newcastle.

“In this moment I feel him he is a Middlesbrough player on a very important day for Middlesbrough,” said Mourinho.

“I didn’t think it is right to talk about him. He has to do his best for the club and try to help them get promoted and after that, when Boro finish the season, it is time to think.”

Bamford joined the Blues from Nottingham Forest in 2012 but has yet to play a first-team game for the club.
