Lampard hails Conte after Chelsea’s title triumph

Frank Lampard has paid tribute to Antonio Conte following Chelsea’s title triumph.

The Blues have been crowned champions in Conte’s first season in charge and Chelsea’s record goalscorer has hailed the Italian for turning the club’s fortune around.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Lampard said: “N’Golo Kante is the player of the season and Eden Hazard was close, but Conte is the man of the season.

“He’s driven them. You can see the passion he has. From where they were last year – they came 10th in the Premier League – to make them champions and show the performances they have, he is their man of the season.”

Chelsea legend Lampard also singled out Cesar Azpilicueta for praise.

The always-reliable defender has had an excellent season and showed typical persistence to set up Michy Batshuayi for the late winner at West Brom which clinched the title.

“A big shout out to Azpilicueta – one of the unsung heroes of the team,” said Lampard.
