Injured Drogba a doubt for Burnley game

Didier Drogba is a doubt for Chelsea’s Premier League opener at Burnley after suffering an ankle injury during Sunday’s pre-season friendly against Hungarian side Ferencvaros.

The 36-year-old striker limped off after half an hour of the game in Budapest, having landed awkwardly after going up for a header.

It was his first start for Chelsea since delighting Blues fans by returning to the club for a second spell.

He will undergo treatment this week and is hopeful the problem will not prove to be serious, but Monday’s game against the promoted Clarets could come too soon for him.

“I twisted my ankle and I couldn’t continue,” Drogba said.

“In the next few days we are going to do some treatment and I hope everything will be better.”
