‘I didn’t feel it’ – Mourinho on his reception from Chelsea fans

Jose Mourinho played down the significance of his reception from Chelsea fans on his return to Stamford Bridge.

It was the ex-Chelsea manager’s first match against his former club since taking over as Manchester United manager.

And it ended in a resounding defeat for the Portuguese, whose side were thrashed 4-0.

He was given a warm welcome and the home fans loudly chanted his name soon after Chelsea’s fourth goal.

However, when asked about the reception he received, Mourinho said: “I didn’t feel it. I was in the game.

“For sure it was not negative, but there was no reason for it to be. What have they got against me? Nothing.

“Everything was like it should have been. It should be calm.”

Mourinho also described a lapse which led to Chelsea scoring after 30 seconds as “an incredible defensive mistake – incredible with capitals.”
