Remy could face ‘long period’ out injured

Loic Remy’s season could be over after the striker injured his groin during Chelsea’s win over Aston Villa.

The Frenchman limped of midway through the first half at Villa Park and was replaced by Alexandre Pato, who went on to score on his long-awaited debut in the 4-0 victory.

Boss Guus Hiddink said he feared Remy would be out for “a long period”.

He added: “The doctor has to be make his analysis and tomorrow we will know more.

“But if you go off with that kind of injury, you will not recover within a few days.”

John Terry and Gary Cahill both missed the game with injuries.

Blues skipper Terry has a minor Achilles problem, while Cahill returned from international duty with a knock, which surprised Hiddink.

He said: “He was on the bench [against the Netherlands], did the warming up, didn’t play but came in the club a day later and appeared to have an injury.

“I cannot neglect the facts as they are. He didn’t play but he came in to us with an injury.

“We will see what will happen with his progress in the upcoming days.”
