Mourinho hails Chelsea after derby victory

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho said his side’s tactical adaptability stood out in the impressive 2-0 win over West Ham.

A first-half tap-in from John Terry and Diego Costa’s 13th goal in 15 league games saw Mourinho’s men maintain their 100% home record with a ninth successive home Premier League victory.

And the margin of victory, which ensures Chelsea will be top of the table when they face Southampton on Sunday, could have been far greater.

“There is no perfection but we played very well against a very difficult team,” Mourinho said.

“We played well with two different versions; the first one against a defensive side. We were very good, we moved the ball, we moved the players with good dynamic and made lots of chances.

“In the second half there was another version against an attacking team that tried to put pressure on us, made chances and we also coped well with that situation and found some space to counter-attack.

“It is very important for a team to identify different moments of a game and to be able to to adapt and Chelsea today was a good example of that and did that very well.”
