Mourinho praises players after Blues win

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was full of praise for a quartet of stars who played a key part in helping the Blues reach the Capital One Cup quarter-finals just over 48 hours on from facing Manchester United.

Veteran striker Didier Drogba scored one goal and forced the error that led to the winner in the 2-1 victory over a gutsy Shrewsbury side.

Mourinho, whose team are in the final eight of the League Cup for the fourth successive season, said: “Didier, Filipe Luis, Oscar and Gary Cahill were brilliant – absolutely brilliant.

“The mentality was amazing and when you have people like them and Petr Cech and Mikel not playing regularly in the first team, they come here and give a great example of professionalism.

“It was tough but I think I had the four players who played on Sunday an unbelievable example for ths others.

“After that the kids Ake and Christiansen have to learn from the example and they did so I am very happy.”

Mourinho was also quick to credit the Shrews, who tested Chelsea throughout.

“The game was going to be difficult and was difficult from minute one to the last minute,” Mourinho said.
