Ramires taken to hospital after feeling ill

Midfielder Ramires had to be taken to hospital after being taken ill before Chelsea’s title-clinching victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The Brazilian was named in the starting line-up but missed the 1-0 win after being replaced by Juan Cuadrado at the last minute.

“Ramires went to the hospital,” boss Jose Mourinho confirmed. “He was feeling so bad that we decided to take him out of the dressing room.

“I am going to visit him. He was feeling really bad and really ill.”

Mourinho also revealed that his father was getting better after having had surgery earlier this week.

Mourinho, who flew back to Portugal after the midweek win over Leicester, said: “When the game finished at Leicester I got a private plane immediately and I was there with him for the most difficult moment – which was the surgery.

“Everything is under control. He is strong and is getting better, better, better so I’m much more relaxed.”
