Liverpool boss ready to attack Chelsea

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers says his team are ready to attack Chelsea in Tuesday’s Capital One Cup semi-final clash at Stamford Bridge.

With the tie finely poised after a 1-1 draw at Anfield in the first leg, Rodgers, who could recall ex-Blues striker Daniel Sturridge after injury, believes his attacking players are capable of causing Chelsea problems.

He said: “We know it will be a tough game but we are certainly going into it with no fear and our strength is in attack.”

Chelsea looked vulnerable at the back in Saturday’s shock 4-2 defeat against League One Bradford in the FA Cup.

But they were without the likes of skipper John Terry and midfield enforcer Nemanja Matic for that game, with both set to the return along with Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa.

“They had a difficult result at the weekend but it doesn’t mean they’re not a dangerous team and an outstanding team,” Rodgers said.

“There will be a great motivation for them with a Wembley final at stake, but I’m sure there will also be a wee bit of trepidation.”
