Meanwhile, there continues to be speculation over the future of John Stones as Chelsea pursue a deal to sign the Everton defender.

Stones has asked for a move but Everton manager Roberto Martinez insisted after his side’s League Cup game against Barnsley on Wednesday that the England international would not be sold.

The Daily Mirror, printed shortly before Martinez’s latest comments, reports that Chelsea are in talks with Everton over a £34m deal for Stones, 21, and that the club believes they will sign both him and Pogba.

And The Sun claim Chelsea will have to pay £45m in order to take Stones to Stamford Bridge.
