Costa: I won’t be leaving Chelsea

Diego Costa has told Chelsea TV he wants to stay at Stamford Bridge, ending speculation that he was considering a return to Spain.

Reports had suggested Costa, who scored 20 goals in 26 games as the Blues romped to the Premier League title, was unsettled in England.

But speaking after the win over Sydney FC on Tuesday, Costa insisted he did not want to leave Chelsea.

He said: “It’s always a bit more difficult in the first season for adaptation, but I have no reason to leave this place. I love it, the fans love me and I want to stay.

“It’s really good to come in the first season and win two things [Premier League and Capital One Cup].

“Next year I’ll be ready to come back and hopefully win a couple more trophies.”

Costa, who struggled with a hamstring injury that kept him out of much of the title run-in, added he was happy to feature in the post-season tour.

He said: “I was glad to play. I’ve been injured for a while, it’s important to play and I was really glad to get a game in before finishing for the season.”
